We Do Carpet Cleaning

How to preserve the life of your carpet

It is no secret that carpet is not cheap. With that in mind, you want to do everything possible to protect your investment. Here are a couple of tips to keep your carpet looking newer for longer.

1. Door mats - They are an obvious solution but an effective one. Stop soil at the door, prevention is always the best option.

2. Floor runners - Position runners in trafficked areas. Places like entry points and hallways. Ensure frequent vacuuming and every 2-3 weeks take the runners outside to give a thorough beating.

3. Vacuuming - Don't underestimate the power of regular vacuuming when it comes to protecting your carpet. 70-80% of soil that enters your home is dry soil which is removed by vacuuming if done properly. One pass with your vacuum cleaner is not enough. To maximise your vacuuming efforts, please follow these tips;
- Don't rush your passes. Take it nice and easy.
- Slightly overlap your passes. This ensures you don't miss any soil.
- Criss cross your passes. This will ensure maximum soil is removed.

How to deal with a spillage

Option 1
- Golden rule; do not rub the effected area. This will cause the effected area to spread and possibly cause damage to the fibres.
- Act quickly. The longer you wait, the less likely you are to remove the spillage.
- Scrape off any excess with a spoon or blunt knife.
- Using a damp absorbent cloth, working from the outside in, blot the spillage wiping upwards.
- Once most of the spillage is absorbed, you can then apply a carpet cleaning solution. Ensure you read the instructions and always conduct a pre-test in an inconspicuous area of the carpet.
- After you have treated the spillage, continue to blot the remaining moisture with a damp absorbent cloth.

Option 2
- Scrape the excess off the surface with a spoon or blunt knife.
- Place damp cloth over the spillage and give us a call to come deal with it.
